ESSENTIAL H264
Essential H264, is a realtime 1RU H264/MPEG2 encoder for Broadcast application. His design is based on a generic architecture widely used on many encoder platform in the market, it is created to be simple , reliable and cost effective.
The Essential H264 S3 type Chassis is modular with 3 slots, the encoder is on a hot swappable card to ease upgradability and maintenance. For higher desity, Essential H264 comes witha S6 Chassis, with 6 slots.
Essential H264 allows to use different model of Encoder depending on the needs and can be combined with optional card using the 2 remaining slots.
The encoding core engine is based on a Fujitsu and Magnum Chipset, a guaranty of reliability and video quality.
Essential H264 can be used in:
- Secondary Contribution
- And Distribution , both applications over Satellite or IP

Specialized Encoders
Instead of a “all in one Card” for encoders, leading to a higher cost for production, Essential H264 has invested in a more modular approach. Essential H264 offers specialized encoder cards , so Customers buy what is needed, and don’t pay for unused features.
All encoders come in Dual inputs, all encoder can encode 2 services which can be streamed in SPTS or MPTS.
Essential H264 has 2 flavors:
- The MG1, is the SD only flavor, it is based on a Fujitsu chipset
MG1-M: Dual MPEG2 Encoder SD only ( FT1M-2SD-MPEG2)
MG1-H: Dual H264 Encoder SD only (FT1H-2SD-H264)
- The FT1, is the MPEG2/H264 flavor, it is based on a Magnum chipset
FT1-SD: Dual MPEG2/H264 Encoder SD only ( MG1-2SD-MPEG2)
FT1-HD: Dual SD/HD Encoder H264 only ( MG1-2SHD-H264)
The Essential H264 Chassis can host up to 3 combinations of these above Encoder type. For higher density, Essential H264 offers the Essential H264 S6 which offers 6 slots in same form factor.

Built-In MUX/REMUX
Essential H264 Chassis has by default a complete functional Multiplexer used for remuxing. It can take an external TS from IP or ASI , remux or mux it with the output of the encoder.
There are 2 optional Slots, more encoders can be added or others Optional card from the Essential series can be used such as Trancoders/ Transrater, Decoder, Scrambler/descrambler, IP/ASI cards.
